About Evington Village Fete

Established in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, the Evington Village Fete and Show has grown in size and reputation, to become one of the stand-out community events that take place in Evington each year. Attracting around 1,800 visitors from across the community, the Fete and Show prides itself on bringing people together for a day of family fun and celebration. Themed as a traditional village fete complete with show displays, brass band, village teas and small fairground rides, the fete and show provides an afternoon of entertainment for the whole family.

Our aims are:

  • To foster the community spirit of the village and encourage residents of the area to become active members of the community.
  • To educate, encourage and raise the standards in the development of traditional and modern craft skills. The show organisers will seek to reflect the wide range of skills to be found in Evington.
  • To promote the cultivation of fruits, flowers and vegetables.
  • To provide a forum for village clubs and societies to enhance their public profile and to raise funds.

Volunteering

The Evington Village Fete and Show is run by a committee of volunteers. We are always looking for people to help us put on this event each year. If you could spare a few hours on Fete and Show day or would like to join the committee, we would love to hear from you. The committee meets bimonthly throughout the year to plan and prepare for the annual event

AGM

Each year, in November, the Annual General Meeting is held at St Denys Parish Centre, Church Rd Evington Village. All are welcome. The Annual Report and the Accounts for the year are presented and discussed. Ideas for the next year’s event are shared and plans begin to take shape. There is the opportunity to meet the current committee and help with next year’s event. A number of roles are available from joining the committee or being a steward on the day. You will be able to ask questions and make suggestions.
