On Fete and Show Day
Registration
On the day of the Fete and Show, exhibitors will be welcomed into the marquee for registration from 8.30am until 9.45am. On registering, exhibitors will be given an exhibit card for each of the classes they enter, to be displayed next to their entry. Stewards will be available to assist.
The marquee will be closed to exhibitors at 10.15am, ready for judging.
Judging and prizes
The judges will award points to the entries on show – 1st Prize – 3 points, 2nd prize – 2 points and 3rd prize – 1 point. The points will be added together in each section (e.g. Bakery) to find the Section Winner, who will then be awarded with a certificate, prize and/or cup.
The winners’ prizes and certificates will be handed out at a special ceremony at the marquee starting at 4.30pm. Any remaining prizes will delivered to winners as soon as possible after the Show.
Each year the judges award the Best in Show Tray, for the best exhibit across the show. The individual judges will choose the best exhibit in their area of expertise by marking it with a star sticker.
The Judges
The judges for the Show are members of Leicester and Leicestershire Horticultural Judges Guild, or are academically qualified with no connection to any Fete and Show committee member. The judges are completely impartial and all entries are anonymous at the time of judging.
Hints for Entrants to the Show
- Allow plenty of time to stage the exhibits you are entering. Avoid that last minute rush by completing labels or mounting at home.
- Check carefully that you have the correct number of items, as required by the Schedule.
- Always take more entries/exhibits to the Show than you will need, then choose the best just before you stage your entry.
- Remember condition and uniformity. Every exhibit should be in its most perfect phase and uniform in shape, size and condition.
- Remember your entries remain on display from before judging until 5pm. Please show your receipt ticket when collecting after 5pm.
